This Month I’ve Been #5:

Loving

Organising and successfully pulling off the beard’s surprise 25th birthday party. You can read all about it here, but it’s been a long five months of planning and sorting things out and now it’s happened it was so worth it. I loved seeing all his friends and family come together to celebrate his birthday and it gave me an amazing feeling. Two of my best friends from uni came down for it too and it was so lovely spending some proper time with them.

Hating

The aftermath of the party. A busy weekend teamed with a pretty immense hangover and lack of sleep means I was overly emotional when the weekend celebrations were over and my friends left. I hate saying goodbye to my friends because, although I speak to them everyday, it’s gutting not being able to see them as much as I would like to.

Eating

I’ve been loving this healthy eating malarkey. I had a break for the beard’s birthday, and ate a lot of cake, sweets and basically shit food, but I told myself it was ok to have a weekend off every now and again and I’ve been back on it since. The Monday after the weekend I had some much fruit and veg and my stomach was SO happy for me – salad has never tasted so good after you’ve had a week of binge eating.

Exercising

I’ve started phase two of my Emily Skye plan and, so far, I’m not enjoying it as much as I enjoyed the first plan. The focus for this phase is on more specific muscle groups, such as glutes and biceps and back etc, rather than on the generic lower/ upper body. I know the plan is tailored to work every muscle but I prefer working my entire lower body to a specific muscle. I also find it actually causes more DOMS after which is frustrating (but not a bad thing).

Drinking

Ha, far too much of everything. I rarely drink alcohol anymore, special occasions and holidays but never during the week and very rarely at the weekend, so drinking at the beard’s party took it’s toll. I’m not bothered though, everyone has those moments of drinking too much and, trust me, I paid for it.

Visiting

Thorpe Park! I booked it as a present and it was such a fun day. We went on Sunday 22nd and it was busy, but not so bad that we couldn’t get on any rides. We did the majority of the fast rides (bar about three) and got on a couple more than once. I was just gutted as the new Derren Brown ride was meant to be open beginning of May and, due to a delay, it was still shut when we went. Never mind, I’ll just have to go back!

Watching

Boxing! I watched the David Haye fight and I was so pleased (not with the fight, that was crap) but I genuinely love watching boxing! It’s such a good sport to watch and I get far too into it for my liking (I’m one of those people who shout aggressively at the TV screen).

Reading

I’ve almost finished Dark Places by Gillian Flynn and I’m not even kidding – it’s amazing. It’s literally gripped me from the start and I’m so excited to find out what happens. If you love a bit of gore and thrillers then you need to read this book!

Listening To

A whole lot of Kisstory. I love catching the 6pm Kisstory slot on the way home from work, however it does make me feel old that some of the songs I used to dance to when I was 18 are now considered old enough to make it onto the playlist (Wiley – Wearing My Rolex anyone?!)

Looking Forward To

Lots actually. Next month is my mum’s birthday, then the beard and I are going to see Aladdin in July and we’re also going to be booking a weekend away somewhere for a mini break this month which will help break up time, then in August it’s my big summer holiday to Mexico, I know it’s all going to come round quickly and I’m going to enjoy every minute of it!

Thanks for reading,
S x
