This Month I’ve Been #3
BOOKING A HOLIDAY. Ahhhhhhhhhh I’m so happy to be able to say that on Monday the beard and I booked our holiday for this year. We’re going to be spending two weeks in Mexico and I’m on the countdown already (146 days). This is the third time I’m going to Mexico because I just can’t get enough of the place – the hotels, the sea, the sun, the drink – all of it is amazing.
The end of Lent. I’ve surprised myself by this as I thought I’d love it. On Sunday Lent finished (I know it officially finishes on Maundy Thursday but I always do it to the Sunday), so I treated myself by having mini hot cross buns for breakfast and some chocolate pieces throughout the day. On Monday I made a cake and picked at the bowl for both the cake batter and icing and by Monday night I felt SO sluggish. Too much sugar + my dodgy stomach = feeling like crap. I’ve decided that I’m going to stick to not eating sweet things during the week and have a treat on a weekend instead.
As above, really. However I did treat myself to some dark chocolate with sea salt and caramel at the weekend as I want to try and wean myself off of milk/ white chocolate and onto dark.
I’m still loving running on road, and with the clocks going back last weekend it makes running in the evening so much easier. Light nights make running less dangerous (I don’t always run on pavement, so dodgy road surfaces can cause injuries) but it also gives me more drive to go out rather than sitting in.
More water. I bought a new GIANT water bottle from New Look and I know if I finish one bottle I’ve drunk a decent amount in just one sitting. You can find the one I bought here, it’s well worth investing in if you want to up your water intake.
Oxhey Park. I’ve changed my running route so it now incorporates running through a big park that is just down the road from me. I used to go to this park all the time when I was younger, then it turned really dodgy and drug-dealy, so the the local council pumped a load of money into it and added a kid’s park and outdoor gym and it’s all lovely again. It has stairs that lead down to a mini river at the bottom and every time I run down them I feel like Rocky.
GAME OF THRONES. I read all the books last year, but never watched the series as I found the first two episodes really slow. Fast forward a year and I’m now on series three episode five and I have a feeling I’m very close to the Red Wedding, so I’m damn excited about it. I want to watch all five series before the sixth starts next month but I don’t think I’m going to unless I binge watch (which I might very well do).
I said last month that I would finish a book this month and, unfortunately, I haven’t. I have, however, got through half of one and it’s pretty good. It’s The Taxidermist’s Daughter by Kate Mosse, which is a crime novel. I found it quite hard to get into at the beginning but now I’m half way through and I’m flying through it. If you are reading it, and struggling, then persevere – it get’s better.
I’ve been listening to my Spotify gym playlist a lot (I’ll do an update blog soon with new additions). I love Spotify, but I’m too cheap to buy the premium version and I HATE the thirty second ads – why are there always two?! It’s a minute of my life I’m never going to get back (that’s what I get for being cheap really).
Looking Forward To
This month it’s my birthday, I have a day off work to prolong the celebrations, I’m getting my hair done (goodbye roots), I’ve booked in for a few new tattoos, I’m having a manicure and pedicure AND I’m going on holiday to Cyprus on the 1st May, so this month is going to go quickly as it’s full of fun stuff.
Thanks for reading,
