Aladdin The Musical
On Friday (29th July) the beard and I went into London to go and see Aladdin the Musical at the Prince Edward Theatre in Old Compton Street.
I love Disney’s Aladdin, it such a lovely film and it also features one of my favourite actors – Robin Williams (RIP). I know pretty much all the words to all the songs, I had a Jasmine AND Aladdin doll when I was younger and I’ll continue to love it for years to come.
Knowing my love for all things Disney, the beard booked tickets for Aladdin back in April and gave me them for my birthday. One of the best presents EVER.
The musical is genuinely incredible, it’s a mix of traditional with modern in terms of the song, and the storyline pretty much follows the Disney one. There are obviously substitutions for some of the characters (Iago, Abu), but with the mix of the modern with traditional this made it work without it being too different.
I was able to sing along to the majority of the songs, there are some new ones though, and the staging and props were all incredible. My favourite character was (no surprise here), the Genie, as he was so energetic and his voice was beautiful.
We had amazing seats, right in the middle of the stage in the dress circle and I honestly couldn’t have asked for a better view. We were able to see everything with no limitations.
If you’re a Disney fan, I would seriously recommend going to see this as it’s just so good. If you liked The Lion King, you’ll love this.
