Mani Monday – Essie Licorice and Summit of Style
January is always such a crap month, so I like to keep myself happy by treating myself to no expense luxuries – which includes a decent DIY manicure with my favourite nail brand; Essie.
Essie Summit of Style was my go-to nail colour over the festive period, as it added the right amount of glitter and sparkle, and matched perfectly with any colour I used.
As January rolled around, I wanted a colour which matched my mood (black as night, ha) and decided to match it with Licorice.
Licorice is a deep, intense black which is ridiculously glossy, even with a top coat. It goes on perfectly in two coats and dries fairly quickly (although I always use my fast-dry top coat to speed things along).
Summit of Style is part of the nail brans ‘Luxeffect’ range, and is a bronze gold glitter set in a clear background colour. It includes small and large-sized glitter particles, so it’s ridiculously easy to create a gradient glitter look or go for an intense, glittery full top coat.
To achieve the look above, I applied a base coat, two coats of Licorice and left these to dry. I then applied a line of Summit of Style across the base of my nail then, with an almost clean brush, I brushed the glitter particles up the nail to create the gradient effect. If I felt one nail had more than another, I would dip the brush back in and dot more glitter into the spaces that needed filling.
Apply your top coat, leave to dry and voila, you have super glittery, easy party nails which require 1) no effort and 2) hardly any time.
